Anthony Yi

Mr. Yi attended the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music for a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. The musician and educator he has become is a result of being under the baton and tutelage of Dr. Eric Hammer, the guidance from Dr. Ruth Brittin, and the insertion from Dr. Donald DaGrade and David Henderson.

His interest in music began in Delaware, singing in the chorus and playing the recorder. At the age of 8, he began taking piano and guitar lessons from his church pastor and his wife, as well as introductory music lessons for saxophone by fourth grade. When he moved to Fresno, CA for high school, he participated in all the major instrumental groups, including Drum Corps.

Mr. Yi currently teaches classroom music and beginning band at various elementary schools in Santa Maria, CA, after having taught four years at the high school level. Mr. Yi plays for the SLO Wind Orchestra, a pub band called Brass Mash, and even SLO Symphony.

Mr. Yi really enjoys arranging music; there is so much great music out there that he likes to rearrange and even re-interpret. As a movie enthusiast, he has watched many, many movies. Getting lost in the storyline of film, tv, and video games encaptures him and provides a visual, aural, mental, and emotional stimulation.
